Diesel Mechanic
$23-$26 We're looking for candidates who have Diesel Mechanical knowledge and experience to help work on Locomotives and freight cars. Must be able to work with various tools as well as follow all safety precautions.
- Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in diesel engines, air brake equipment, running gear or locomotive components
- Rivet, bolt, glue, braze or weld to fabricate, modify or design replacement parts for equipment
- Fabricate, cut, shape, and perform finish operations using various types of materials
- Perform periodic service on locomotives
- Move locomotives
- Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
- Heavy work, lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis
- Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb on an occasional basis
- Exposure to equipment that intensifies the heat factor on an occasional basis
Hour: 7am-3pm- can vary. (May have some weekend calls but rare)
Payrate: depending on experience $23-$27
